![]() The nice thing about tribal decks is that you typically don't have to rely on your commander for the deck to work. I run a mono black deck with anowon as the main commander and drana, kalastria bloodchief as an alternate. Things like Krovikan Vampire are also pretty bad since you have no way to force people into blocking in a format where you start with 40 life people can let you hit them with a 3/3 for a long, long time. I'd cut stuff like Chancellor of the Dross and Sengir Vampire. Other than that you'd have to run the generic artifact sweepers like Oblivion Stone and Nevinyrral's Disk.Īdditionally your land count is too low. Tribute is more useful just because you don't have to wait for your upkeep for it to have an effect. ![]() Your only options that I could find are Phyrexian Tribute and Gate to Phyrexia, both of which are pretty "meh" cards. It's a major weakness of the color and you really aren't going to fix it while still staying monoblack. In terms of dealing with artifacts, wizards has kept black purposely bad at this. Darksteel Plate can also be good if you are playing in a wrath-heavy meta. If you throw in more protection like that he should stick around more often than not. Still, you should be running lightning greaves and/or swiftfoot boots in addition to your whispersilk cloak. A lot of combo decks (that aren't creature dependent) might even want Anowon to stay around. If the decks are Anowon, Zur, Sisay, and Arcum your general would be the least of my worries by far. Some people definitely won't be happy about playing against Anowon but the amount of hate that he will draw will be dependent on how serious the other generals at the table are. I only looked quickly at the deck but to address your actual questions here's what I think.
